These house names are made using carefully selected 1cm thick slate from Italy or South America, available in deep soft grey, muted aubergine or classic black. This is a naturally beautiful material and each plaque has its own unique surface. We use this material for our name plaques, not only for its beauty, but for its robust nature as it requires no protective coating and no maintenance.
The Number Studio name plaques in slate
We are particularly concerned with good balance and a pleasing layout when preparing the lettering for each name plaque. Once this is achieved the sketch design is e mailed to you for your approval.
We use a professional primer coat followed by 2 top coats of high quality exterior paint for the lettering on your house plaque.
A stylish range of type-faces to choose from for your house name
The 6 type-faces on offer include classic script and modern handwriting, traditional serif and simple sans serif styles. All but one offer upper and lower case letters. As the name on each house plaque is unique we tweak the letters in order to achieve a balanced design.
Installation of The Number Studio slate name plaques
The house plaque can be drilled for fixing and supplied with stainless steel screws and wall plugs. To install a house name with screw fixings you will need a pencil, a measure or spirit level, a drill and a screwdriver.
Place your name plaque in position checking that it is horizontal and mark through the screw holes. Drill your holes, insert your wall plugs and screw your house plaque in place taking care not to over tighten the screws.
Alternatively your house name can be backed with a smaller slate plaque with invisible fixings. This gives the pleasing effect of the house sign appearing to float in front of the wall. These fixings for your name plaque are long enough to accommodate uneven surfaces like a stone wall.
Installation is very simple. All you need is a drill with 9 mm masonry bit, a measure or spirit level to check that the house plaque is horizontal, and some exterior masonry adhesive. Full instructions are supplied with every house sign.
